Getting grads into games
Launched over 8 year ago by leading games industry recruiters, Aardvark Swift, Grads in Games has one simple aim – to help more graduates make the leap from student to professional developer.
We do this through a comprehensive program of events, competitions and resources – all designed to equip students and graduates with the skills employers need.
On top of everything else, we have a dedicated graduate talent recruitment desk. Our specialist Grads in Games Consultants work solely with graduates and students, helping them break into the games industry!
Our games careers activities
The Grads in Games initiative is built around our showcase events. Search for a Star and Rising Star are our annual industry-backed showcase student and graduate talent competitions. Designed by veterans to mimic a standard industry recruitment process, programming, 3D art, animation and VFX students improve their employability by creating the games and polished assets which studios want to see in an exceptional applicant.
Each year we travel up and down the country during our annual Get in the Game tour. We visit student game developers at all levels of higher education to impart our expert knowledge. Through the tour, we deliver expert CV and portfolio advice, workshops with hints and tips to increase employability, and inform students of what skills they’ll need to land a job in the games industry.
Increasing student employability
We work closely with big names like Sony, Nintendo and Ubisoft, along with the smallest indie studios; so we know exactly what they’re looking for when it comes to recruiting graduates. If you’re a student looking to get your foot in the door of the games industry, check out our resources pages for advice on applications, interviews and anything else you may need help with to get your first games job! Alternatively, you can check out what jobs we’re currently working and send us your CV. We’ll send you tailored feedback along with any jobs we have which you might be interested in.
