Aardvark Swift will be curating a special Education Zone featuring exhibitors, games projects, guests and speakers from the world of game development revealing how you can get a dream job making video games!
We will be bringing our Grads In Games and Get In The Game careers guidance direct to Play Expo, delivering one-to-one advice for all ages on how you can get a dream job working in the games industry, from the subjects and courses you should focus on, to the opportunities you have access to.
Representatives from UK games studios, institutions, universities, colleges and high schools will be sharing information about their experiences and the options available to students wanting to get into the games industry.
At Play Expo 2014 our now.play zone had over 100 next-gen consoles running the latest games. For 2015 we will introduce our new PC Minecraft zone for free play and hunger games fun.
We are proud to support independent game developers and Play Expo 2014 saw a much expanded indie zone, with PC, Xbox One, Wii-U and even Oculus Rift titles on display.
Featuring the most extensive and varied celebration of video games history ever seen in the UK, this year’s re.play will have even more free-play arcade and pinball machines, retro consoles and classic computers.
Replay Ages: For fans of retro gaming there simply isn’t a bigger, more comprehensive display of video gaming history than the Replay Ages area.
Arcade & Pinball: Our arcade and pinball section will contain hundreds of your favourite coin-operated machines such as Pacman, Outrun, Track & Field, Street Fighter 2, Gauntlet, Star Wars, Operation Wolf, Bubble Bobble, Donkey Kong and so many more.
Replay LAN: Featuring classic games from the FPS, Realtime Strategy and Driving genres. Favourites such as Doom, Quake, Unreal Tournament, Command & Conquer and Outrun 2006 Coast to Coast.
We will also have a number of talks by game developers and other key people from the video gaming world over the weekend. Come and chat with indie developers or industry veterans in one of our Q&A sessions.
Film/TV and Videogame Personalities. You can expect Hollywood movie star meet-and-greets, photo opportunities with the celebrities, film props and even movie cars in the brand new screen.play zone. Showmasters, the UK’s leading popular culture events company, also plan to bring film and TV related guests that cross over with the video gaming industry.
With lots of free to enter prize tournaments across both retro and modern systems, you can battle it out on all your favourite games. We will also host a number of pay-to-enter tournaments featuring cash prizes.
Play Expo gives you a chance to enter the very last heat in the the UK’s only national tournament for retro gamers the funstock.co.uk Classic Gaming Championships. PLAY Expo also plays host to the Grand Final, where the UK’s greatest retro gamer will be crowned!
This is where some of the most dedicated, creative gamers congregate to don costumes and props in tribute to their favourite characters from the world of video games. Cos.play will feature a range of costume competitions, parades and skits for pros and beginners, groups and singles alike.
A card and board games section will be run by specialists Dark Cleo Productions.
