Biggest year yet for Get In The Game!

13 December 201614 December 2016 Genie Todd 0

Get In The Game is over for another year, and what a tour it’s been! This year’s been our biggest and longest tour yet, visiting a total of 64 universities across 8 weeks.

In total, 2000 students and 70 academics and lecturers came along to our talks, and it’s been great to see so many students getting in touch for CV & portfolio advice and entering our Search For A Star & Rising Star competitions.

This year has also been our biggest speaker line-up yet, with 36 speakers in total from 15 games studios including

  • Boss Alien
  • Playground Games
  • nDreams
  • AMD
  • Autodesk
  • Rebellion
  • Red Kite Games
  • Outplay Entertainment
  • Futurlab
  • Intertia Game Studios
  • Preloaded
  • Dovetail Games
  • BetaJester
  • Framestore VR Studio
  • A Little Red Panda

We’d like to thank all of our speakers for their fantastic and inspiring presentations, and for offering useful advice and feedback for students. From animators, artists and programmers, the speakers covered a variety of exciting topics, from stories of their journey into the industry to behind-the-scenes games footage, to technical talks and demonstrations.  Some of the universities also featured technical workshops, including an animation / rigging workshop from Framestore VR Studios.

We’d also like to thank our supporting partners for providing awesome prizes including t-shirts, games, merchandise, toys, VR cardboards and more for our goodie bags! So thanks to

  • EA Sports
  • Coatsink
  • Preloaded
  • Radiant Worlds
  • Antimatter Games
  • Konami
  • Bandai Namco
  • Sony
  • Cloud Imperium
  • King

Thank you to all the universities who hosted our talk this year, especially those who gave us generous contributions to help make the tour happen.

So what’s next?

For all you soon-to-be graduates, this is just the beginning of your exciting journey into games. Get in touch to get free help and on CVs and portfolios and for one-to-one careers advice.

If you haven’t already, apply for our Search For A Star / Rising Star competitions for  your chance of winning a job or internship in the games industry!

We hope you all enjoyed the talks, and we look forward to hearing from you soon!
