Our Get in the Game Careers Events take place throughout the year, though are focused largely between October and December. We visit universities in addition to running webinars for students, delivering our Get in the Game sessions alongside industry. Working with over 150 institutions across the UK and Europe, we deliver key games career guidance to thousands of students. We currently run 4 separate versions of our main careers talks, each with a slightly different focus:

How to get a job as a graduate in the games industry

  • Programmers
  • Artists
  • Animators & VFX Artists
  • Game Designers

Each GITG careers talk contains up-to-date guidance on gamedev roles. This includes the key skills games studios look for in graduates, tips for constructing the perfect CV and portfolio, how to network to get a job in the games industry and more! For each talk, both in-person and online, we’ll be accompanied by a guest speaker from industry, providing their own insights, with a live Q&A at the end of the session.

This is a unique chance for students to learn about the industry and how to stand out, straight from devs. The talks highlight the benefits and reality of a career in video games development, giving students the guidance they need on how to prepare themselves and improve their employability.

If you lead, lecture or advise for a games course and would like more information on our Search For A Star dev challenges or the Get In The Game talks, then we’d love to hear from you. Email Dan Dudley for full details of how you can get involved.
