Junior C++ UE4 Programmer

Skills: C++, UE4, multi-discipline programming

Looking for your first role in the games industry? Are you in love, love, LOVE with games and game development? You’ve come to the right place!

You could be exactly the person I’m looking for to fill this exciting position with a studio of likeminded peers. Bulkhead Interactive is an emerging talent in the games industry, developing some of the biggest dark, gritty, and realistic multiplayer FPS games on the market. They’re currently working on their latest release, in partnership with an industry GIANT, and they want to bring a Junior C++ UE4 Programmer along for the ride! Does that sound like you?

As part of a flexible team, your role as a gameplay programmer could take you in several directions, whether that’s game systems, user interfaces, AI, networked gameplay, gameplay optimisations, audio systems, input systems or more. It’ll really help if you have a well-rounded knowledge of development in different areas, especially across multiplayer and networked games.

As a recent graduate, you want to know that you’ll be supported and developed to reach your full potential. You’re in luck with this one! The studio was created years ago by a group of ambitious young graduates, so they know exactly how it feels to want to make your mark on a new industry. You won’t be watching from the sidelines, you’ll be digging deep into the development of the game.

The skills and XP you’ll need to succeed in this role include:

  • A degree in a programming-related discipline, at First Class (or predicted) is preferred
  • Experience with C++ and UE4 programming
  • A great portfolio with at least two completed games in C++ / UE4 (not Blueprints)

This role is full-time and permanent, and the salary is competitive and flexible dependent on ability/experience.

You’ll be based in Derby, which is perfectly-placed between the picturesque countryside of Derbyshire and the Peak District. The buzzing city lifestyle of Sheffield and Nottingham is also not far away!
