Always learning – Grad Development at Sumo Digital
For years Sumo Digital has worked extensively with Grads in Games and we are excited to keep working together over the next 12 months. The Grads in Games initiative is the perfect route to network and connect the up and coming game dev talent and Sumo Digital.
Since being a Grads in Games partner, Sumo has offered job offers to numerous participants of Grads in Games activities, as the studio are always impressed with the work produced by candidates.
Grads are given the chance to work on AAA game titles while learning under some of the best in the business. Some of Sumo Digital’s recent projects include Sackboy: A Big Adventure, a sequel to the hugely popular LittleBigPlanet franchise (which, you might have spotted, was a Playstation 5 launch title!) along with other projects including Spyder for Apple Arcade and work on Hitman 2 for IO interactive.
Sumo Digital take pride in the way they encourage development for their staff while working on AAA projects. They offer staff 5 learning days a year and provide access to Udemy and the GDC Vault, which is packed full of fascinating talks and guides on the latest game technology and practices. They are also proud to have recently launched the Sumo Digital Academy, a talent development programme that encourages graduates from various disciplines into the games industry. Sumo provide countless routes to progress your career, and the Grads in Games initiative is a great first step.
The Search for a Star competitions, Get In The Game university events and the GiG awards provide undergrads the perfect way to get their foot in the door with top-tier game studios like Sumo Digital. Whether it is gaining experience, networking with industry pros or learning new ideas, Grads in Games helps you stand out for studios.
“The programme is particularly useful for our recruitment teams too, who get to meet up and coming talent and keep them in mind for graduate or junior positions at our studios,”
“If you’re currently studying at university and considering taking part in Grads in Games, we’d highly recommend it.”
