The Sumo Digital Rising Star competition is the biggest competition in Europe for students who are not yet in their final year. The competition has students create their own games, art assets, animations or visual effects for amazing prize packages including a grand prize guaranteed internship interview with Sumo Digital – one of the largest independent studios in the industry and developers of LittleBigPlanet 3 and Snakepass!

If you’re a final year or Masters student, please see our companion competition offering job interviews with leading studios: Search For A Star.

The competition

We want to prepare you for what lies ahead; that’s why our competition has been split into three stages which have been designed by industry experts to mirror a typical recruitment process that you would expect to find in the games industry.

The competition is split into five categories which you can pick from: code, character art, environment art, animation, and VFX. You’ll have the chance to create your own games, art assets, animations or visual effects (depending on your discipline), to impress the judge panel and grow your own portfolio and improve your employability!

.

What’s in it for you?

  • This is a unique opportunity to gain valuable work experience at one of the top UK games studios.
  • Build your portfolio and improve skills by receiving personalised feedback from professionals in your field.
  • Experience interview panels with judges from the industry, and receive personal advice and interview feedback from professionals from big names such as Microsoft and Unreal Engine.
  • This is a chance to get your talent seen first-hand by some of the UK’s leading games studios and make a big impression!
