Only two webinars this week with our Get In The Game careers events but still just as busy. We’ve now run seven in total over the past three weeks, speaking to nearly 2000 students!
This week Becky & Andy from the Grads In Games team covered just what it takes for students to get their career started in the games industry, and were joined by guest speakers Rachel Senior, Senior Animator at DPS Games, and Phil Owen, Head of Engineering at d3t.
Both Rachel and Phil gave expert insight across animation and programming for our students, answering a huge amount of questions from hundreds of viewers! From the technical skills you need to get noticed by hiring managers, to just what to have on your CV and portfolio, the talks cover a range of things that will really help you to improve your employability and career prospects in such a competitive field.
Our speakers were also able to share their own experiential advice into working in games, as well as key insights into their own career journeys.

Overall, this now means we’ve brought this year’s talks to 1901 students from 63 different universities and colleges!
We had a few huge Q&A sessions last week too, working our way though many great questions from students about working in the games industry, covering everything from preparing yourself for interview through to the best tools to learn for the job. We hope you all gained a lot of useful insight and will be putting your new knowledge to use across your work and portfolios!
We’ve got several webinars running over the coming weeks, covering many different aspects of careers in game development. We’ve coordinated with universities across the UK and Europe, so check with your lecturers to see if you’ve already got a session booked in for your course!
