Get in the Game – A Retrospective

December 20, 2021December 20, 2021 Harry Stainer 0

Back in September we began our Get in the Game Webinar series – we aimed to talk to as many students as possible and give them the chance to hear from game industry professionals on how they can get a job in their desired profession.

We’ve had a fantastic turnout over the past few months and now in December we want to take a look back at all the Universities we managed to speak to and the impact these talks have had.

The reach of Get in the Game this past year has transcended our expectations. We have spoken to students from 52 countries all over the world. From places such as the United States, Belgium, Spain and The Netherlands – We are incredibly proud that Get in the Game has had such a far reach and is connecting with students globally.

Over the 10 weeks we were running webinars we spoke to over 4400 students. This is a record for our Get in the Game series and we are incredibly proud that Students are seeing the value in hearing from industry professionals – We had some fantastic talks from many of our various partner studios, our most popular discipline was programming but all disciplines were incredibly popular across the board!

We also want to say a huge thank you to the 171 different universities we spoke to! Our attendance was incredibly high and It was brilliant to see over 200 students attend from Universities such as Howest DAE & Staffordshire University!

We are also happy to have had a wide range of speakers – We’ve had industry veterans from places such as Playtonic & d3t as well as individuals who are newer to the industry from studios such as Mediatonic & Futurlab. We want to make our GITG talks inclusive and representative of the industry as a whole and are grateful that we’ve been able to get people from all different stages of their careers to discuss their personal experiences in breaking into the game industry. We have to thank these brilliant speakers who have put aside time to help us break down the barriers between the game industry & education – you make Get in the Game possible!

We have appreciated the incredibly positive responses from all the Students that attended our Get In the Game Webinar Series and are glad that students are proactivly pursuing jobs within the industry!
