Grads In Games 2021/22
After relaunching as an independent not-for-profit company earlier this year, Grads In Games have been working through many changes, solidifying our goals for this new company.
Now, we’re ready to announce our new aims for the future, including our company mission, the appointment of a new advisory board, and a range of new opportunities for people to get involved in the work that we do.
We’ve been working across the games industry and education for several years now, including long before we officially adopted the Grads In Games name in 2014. We’re incredibly proud to now enter this new era for the company, and hope that you will join us.
Our Mission Statement
Grads In Games will:
- Improve the links between the games industry and education
- Educate young people on how to access the games industry by refining their employability
- Provide opportunities for young people to develop and present their skills to games industry professionals.
- Promote a diverse range of young people as exceptional and essential future employees for games studios
- Support the growth and success of the games industry
We will achieve this through the activities that we run throughout the year, including our Get In The Game careers talks and events, the Search For A Star and Rising Star game development challenges, as well as a range of new activities including our upcoming University Open Days, our Career Connector events and our new library of online careers resources.
Our New Advisory Board
This inaugural board is formed from a range of people that we have worked with across Grads In Games events in the past, many of whom have already been instrumental in improving the way we educate and support students, academics and the games industry.
With a combination of people from industry and academia, as well as recent graduates, we trust that this advisory board will help us to shape Grads In Games in line with our mission and values.
Take part as an Industry Advocate
We’re looking for experienced games industry professionals to help guide students looking to start a career in the games industry, and to support Grads In Games across its activities.
If you’d love to get involved in supporting the next generation of the games industry, this is an opportunity to pass on your insight and knowledge to those taking their first steps into a career in games.
Join as a Student Ambassador
We’re looking for students currently studying games to join our Ambassador programme, helping to raise awareness of career and employability opportunities within games, and promoting the support that Grads In Games can provide to students.
Pledge your commitment to improve student employability
At GIG we are committed to improving the employability of young people for the video games industry, we follow through with this commitment every year by engaging with thousands of students on projects including Get in the Game and Search for a Star.
We are encouraging universities, colleges and schools who share our vision to make a pledge that commits them to improve the employability of their games students.
