Games VFX Projects | SFAS21
This week we’re going to be showcasing all of the student projects from Search For A Star & d3t Rising Star 2021. First up, one of our favourite categories, the visually and technically impressive Games VFX!
Ever since we added the VFX challenge four years ago it’s always been one of the least represented in the Search For A Star challenges. There aren’t a great deal of universities that study VFX for games in depth, even though it’s a skill that many studios are looking for at a graduate level.
Despite this, the VFX challenges are always one of the most exciting parts of the whole challenge series, packed with fantastic ideas and a real showcase of technical and creative skills from student VFX artists.
For their projects, students were asked to create a short chain of game-ready effects that would form a sequence, similar to what you would typically find in a game scene. This sequence would move from an idle/charge state through to a release and recovery, before looping back to its original starting state.
