Partner Spotlight: Edge Case Games

May 18, 2016March 2, 2017 Genie Todd 0

Title - Edge Case
Supporting partner Edge Case Games are the masterminds behind works like Strike Suit Zero, a dog-fighting, space combat game. In their own words, they have their heads so far in the clouds, all they can see is stars!

Made up of around 25 developers, many of which games industry experts, the Guildford-based studio is continuing to expand. They’re currently working on their new title Fractured Space, a team-based space combat game fought in big capital ships. Fractured Space is at the very forefront of its genre, through its unique coupling of shooter and strategy styles.

“The studios involved get an early look at some of the best graduates who are coming onto the job market and the strongest undergraduates looking for industrial placements.  Everyone benefits!”

Alongside making some epic space games, Edge Case Games currently help us with our Search For A Star and Rising Star competitions, with principal engineer Greg Booker playing a key role in the judging and design of the code competitions.

He says, “There are many facets to Search For A Star.  Students are exposed to testing and interview techniques and develop a project for their portfolio. What’s more, progressing through the competition significantly increases their chances of finding a placement or job after graduation.  The studios involved get an early look at some of the best graduates who are coming onto the job market and the strongest undergraduates looking for industrial placements.  Everyone benefits!”

This year, Chief Production Officer Dylan Beale and his art team also got involved in the new Search for a Star art competition, helping to mark the round one entries. We’re thankful to both the programming and art teams at Edge Case, who offer their support and expertise to our competitions.
