SFASX Environment Art Winner 2020 : Milan De Laet
Congratulations to Milan De Laet from Howest Digital Arts & Entertainment, our Character Art winner of Search For A Star 2020!
Milan took the top spot in the project stage with his dramatic Trapped environment, earning a place in the finals. Our assessors were very impressed by Milan’s great scene composition and the technical challenge of creating it all in such a short space of time!
Milan discussed his art, knowledge and ambitions for his future games art career, in interview with Dominic Hood, Head of Art at Sumo Digital; Anthony O Donnell, Associate Art Director at Firesprite; Martyn Taylor, Artist at TT Games; Rachel Weston, Spotlight Lead/Art Director at Unity.
Our team of expert Environment Art judges said that Milan has a meticulous approach, resulting in a very consistently strong portfolio of work. They loved that he had such a variety of work, including highly technical pieces, showing he was open to artistic exploration to become a strong well-rounded artist.
Our judges also said that Milan came across really well in the interview, showing the skills that would make him a valuable team player for a games studio when he graduates this year.
