Following deliberation by our judging panel, we can now reveal that in their expert decision the winner of this years award is Rob Griffiths representing Coleg Llandrillo.
Rob has been lecturing at Coleg Llandrillo since 2017 with previous industry experience at both Sony and TT Games.. He now leads the department and utilises his own industry connections to ensure his students benefit and reach their full potential.
“Having worked alongside Rob with his incubation project (GT Studios), I have witnessed first hand his dedication and commitment to his students. Especially in the current Covid circumstances, he has been a key member in his student’s studies and has gone above and beyond, I feel, in ensuring they are all reaching their full potential whilst taking time to monitor and protect the wellbeing of his students. Rob maintains good industry connections from his previous job as a Game Developer and is able to utilise this in ways that will benefit the students of his course.”
“I met Rob over the last few months via a game. I was always interested in Games design, and when he told me he was a lecturer in the subject I couldn’t believe it. Besides Robs very busy schedule, he takes his time out of his day on a weekly basis to be give me free 1 to 1 help on my projects via Zoom. I’ve learned so much off Rob, and his passion to teach is extremely motivational. Robs one of the loveliest people you could wish to meet, a true gent. An as a BAFTA winning games developer, he deserves everything coming his way. There isn’t a more deserving person for the award.”
Rob is an excellent example of how academics can collaborate effectively with industry, and it is his students who really feel the benefit! This award is fully deserved and we want to offer him all of our congratulations.
