The Grads in Games Awards 2020 – The Further Education Institution Award Winner is Revealed!

September 16, 2020September 16, 2020 Andy Driver 0

The Grads in Games Educational Institution award for Colleges highlights those institutions at a further Education level who have demonstrated a positive impact with their students over the past 12 months. These are the colleges that are doing the most to help students, giving them the best opportunities to graduate in to Higher Education or a games industry role.

This year we had some incredible nominations which really highlights the fantastic work done t this level. These were whittled down to a shortlist of 4 finalists who were then judged by our fantastic panel. This years finalists:

  • Coleg Llandrillo
  • ELAM – East London Arts & Music
  • Priestly College
  • Warwickshire College

Following deliberation by our judging panel, we can now reveal that in their expert decision the winner of this years award is Coleg Llandrillo.

Coleg Llandrillo have shown that they are continually developing their practice to teach the most up-to-date content possible and keep up with the changes in the games industry. They have become a Tranzfuser hub and are also working on a brand new VR room specifically for students to develop their own VR projects. They have even set up a guided Esports team within the college. Educational partnerships with the likes of Sony and Nintendo ensure paid work placements for their students as well as a host of industry guest speakers visiting the college.

Below you can see some of their nominations:

“The support offered by both the college and all the tutors across this department is phenomenal. I feel that I am often pushed to the best abilities and have exceeded in my education for the entirety of the three years whilst studying under Coleg Llandrillo.”

“Coleg Llandrillo have a continued and dedicated approach to learning. Students voices are heard and changes are  made quickly.”

“The department are passionate about the teaching and learning, understanding, and strive to be the best for the students all of the time. Nothing is ever too much of a hassle, and lots of former students have walked out of this college and straight into a job. I truly believe as a student this is all down to the support Coleg Llandrillo offer in our time here.”

We feel Coleg Llandrillo is an excellent example of the quality of teaching at FE level and we are very happy to present this award to them..
