Our Games Animation student projects for Search For A Star & Rising Star 2023!
Although most uni courses tend to focus only animation for film and TV, realtime games animation is still a hugely important area of study. Good animation brings life to games and is often one of the key things that create the most memorable, immersive gaming experiences. Being able to create great animation is a huge mix of technical and creative skills, but developing them for use in realtime games is another skillset on top of that!
For their Search For A Star & Rising Star projects, our student animators were asked to create a movement sequence to an industry brief, based around key actions typical of games animation. Everyone is given creative control of the model, rig and narrative, allowing full freedom of expression.
The three theme options for this year’s sequence were Aerial Assault, Beast Mode and Cautious Approach.
A huge congratulations to everyone who submitted their projects, and well done to everyone who took part!
The Search For A Star challenges are run by Grads In Games with the support of our headline partner Yahaha, and our studio partners at Cloud Imperium, d3t, 10:10 Games, Red Kite Games, Furious Bee, Escape Technology & our recruitment partners at Aardvark Swift.
