Studio Spotlight 2020: d3t
d3t Ltd is an award-winning co-development games studio, taking pride in its anti-crunch ethos and purely work-for-hire focus. As a result, they have partnered on projects with the likes of 2K, 505 Games, SEGA, and Curve Digital.
Established in 2011 with three developers, the studio is now piloted by Richard Badger, Studio Head and consists of a team of 100+ highly skilled employees. Titles they have worked on include Mafia II: Definitive Edition, Assetto Corsa Competizione, Human: Fall Flat and The Witcher 3.
Because of d3t’s exciting work on a wide range and variety of projects, the Cheshire-based developers were proud to win GamesIndustry.biz’s ‘Best Places to Work 2020’ award. With their diversity in projects, developers never get tired of working on the same projects for too long. Because of this variety, they are considered one of the best studios to work for.
They have a diverse and inclusive culture with all new team members being offered a supportive 6-month plan on joining the studio. This helps an individual feel supported, settle in quickly and reach their full potential whatever their role within the studio.
d3t is no ordinary workplace. The studio, workday and activities are designed with employee wellbeing at the forefront. Additionally, they hold an annual wellbeing week entirely dedicated to health and wellbeing inside and outside of the workplace. They offer an amazingly professional, fun, and supportive working environment, with a fantastic mentoring ethos to bring out the best in their diverse team. At d3t, they like to keep their team feeling relaxed, happy and with everything they need to have a successful and enjoyable career.
“After graduating in 2020, my first steps into the industry was one where I started work fully remotely whilst at home due to the pandemic. During this time d3t have supported my transition amazingly, and whilst I miss not being able to meet people in the studio, I speak to the whole team on a regular basis and have become to feel valued by them.”
– John Green, Associate Programmer at d3t & 2018 Rising Star Winner
Following years supporting Grads in Games as a partner studio, d3t have stepped up even further to become headline partner for 2020/21. They are currently heavily involved with the Get in the Game Webinar Series and Online Journey and will be an integral part to our GameDev challenges this year.
“d3t are extremely proud and excited about our partnership with Aardvark Swift. Grads In Games and Search for a Star offer a unique and exciting opportunity for students to experience game development first hand and provides a clear and direct route towards a career within the Games Industry”
