Apply now for Search For A Star & Rising Star 2016

November 11, 2015January 21, 2016 Dan Dudley 0

Applications now open for the 2016 Search For A Star competitions, with game development opportunities for both coders and artists.

Getting into the games industry as a graduate programmer or artist can be, and often is, a tough task for many. Despite the multitude of talents and skills that students and graduates possess, many still come up against barriers to getting their first industry role.

We have designed the Search For A Star competitions to help smash those barriers, showcasing some of the best graduates in the games industry and giving everyone who enters a better chance at breaking through into games industry roles. Through the competition you will get a chance to take part in challenges modelled on actual industry processes, develop a portfolio piece to a professional brief, and gain invaluable direct insights from games professionals.

Click here to apply now for the 2016 competitions

The competitions offer an amazing chance to showcase your abilities in front of leading UK games studios, including Microsoft UK, Playground Games, Boss Alien / NaturalMotion, Edge Case Games, Exient, and more. The winners of each competition will also receive unique chances to work with our partner studios, either as part of an internship, or in a full-time developer role.

Which competition is right for you?

Both competitions offer opportunities for coders and artists, but are split based on your graduation year:

Search For A Star

For students graduating in 2016, or postgraduate students.
The Grand Prize is a job opportunity with one of our partner studios.

Rising Star

For students graduating in 2017 or later.
The Grand Prize is an internship opportunity with one of our partner studios.

For more information on each competition, please check out our pages on Rising Star and Search For A Star
