Search For A Star 2024 : Games Animation Winners

May 8, 2024May 8, 2024 Dan Dudley 0

Looking back at this year’s winners in more detail, we hear what our industry judges thought of the Games Animation winners.

A huge thanks to all of the devs who took the time to sit on our judging panels and interview all of the finalists, and a well-earned congratulations to our winners this year!

Search For A Star & Rising Star are our annual gamedev challenges to help students create portfolio work to a professional brief, get direct industry feedback, and get noticed by games studios. You can learn more about the challenges here.

Grads In Games are only able to run Search For A Star due to the support of the games industry and by being able to help graduates into their first roles. We work to support many of these students for months both before and after the challenges, so if you represent a games studio & would like to learn more about working with any of our SFAS winners, finalists, or Ones To Watch, please get in touch with the grad desk here at Aardvark Swift as we’d love to tell you all about them!

Games Animation Winner

Philip Do

Middlesex University

SFAS Games Animation Judging panel
Matt Palmer, Animation Director at d3t & Coconut Lizard
Ben Crowe, Senior Animator at Steel City Interactive
Jess Dyer, Animator at Ground Shatter

“Philip’s animation is so fun and different, concise and high quality with solid silhouettes and dynamic, high quality movements. A really thoughtful approach to creating a games animation sequence and just a polish pass away from being game ready.

Philip produced a highly creative and impactful animation project, and after impressing the assessors continued to wow our judging team at the final interview.

Rising Star 2024
Games Animation Winner

Maja Bogdanienko

Breda University of Applied Sciences

Rising Star Games Animation Judging panel
Sankalp Sharma, Animator at Lucid Games
John Stopforth, Head of Education at Escape Technology
Ben Marriott, Game Animator at Awe Interactive

“Maja expresses curiosity and drive, is very invested in personality and character and is really passionate about cinematography and storybuilding through animation. With lots of positive energy and a mature mindset, I would love to work with someone so positive and driven. Maja already looks the finished animator and is already at an industry level.”

Maja created an expressive and characterful animation for the project stage, and was able to impress everyone from the assessors all the way through to the final interview panel.
